Join the Forum for an unforgettable celebration of Black History Month featuring one of Hollywood's most visionary artists.

Experience the Exhibition:

Step into the groundbreaking world of two-time Academy Award®-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter at the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP). Our exclusive private tour of Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design will explore how Carter fuses history, technology, and culture to bring powerful stories to life on screen. From the regal attire of Wakanda to the period precision of Malcolm X and Amistad, her work embodies a visual language of liberation, beauty, and pride. Through original sketches, personal artifacts, and rare behind-the-scenes materials, visitors will experience the depth of Carter’s research and imagination that have forever changed how Black identity is represented in film.

Explore how Carter's revolutionary designs blend African heritage, futuristic imagination, and powerful storytelling to reshape representation in cinema. This VIP tour guide will be led by Dejay Duckett, Vice President of Curatorial Services.

Continue the Celebration:
