What's at Stake for the 2026 Midterms: A Conversation with Lauren Cristella
Mar 3, 2026
05:30 PM

Please note: This event will take place in Fitler Square, Philadelphia and is for What's Next Forum members only.

What is a What Next member? The What's Next initiative was created to support Forum members ~30 years into their career who are in or are approaching a new chapter.

When the focus group for the What’s Next initiative curated ideas, one request stood out: a learning event that combines social connection in an intimate setting with an engaging speaker on a timely, relevant topic. We are delighted to invite What's Next members to a fireside chat with Lauren Cristella, President & CEO of the Committee of Seventy — the first woman to serve in the role in the organization's 120+ year history.

Under Lauren's leadership, the Committee of Seventy received the American Bar Association's Unsung Heroes of Democracy Award in 2024. Lauren was also recently recognized as a 2025 Woman of Influence by the Philadelphia Business Journal, the 2024 Rad Girl Nonprofit Leader of the Year and was featured in Philadelphia Magazine's list of the 150 most influential Philadelphians in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

The Committee of Seventy was established in 1904 to combat corruption in Philadelphia, playing a major role in the adoption of civil service reforms and the passage of the 1919 and 1951 Home Rule Charters. The Committee of Seventy is a nonpartisan nonprofit and therefore does not endorse candidates or represent any special interests.

In this special event, Jane Scaccetti will engage in conversation with Lauren, inviting her to share insights on the midterm elections, issues to consider, and which candidates to watch — through a nonpartisan lens.

Light food and drink will be provided. Spots are limited! Register today and join us for an evening of thoughtful discussion and warm connection with other What’s Next members.

Thank you to our gracious host, moderator, and What’s Next lead, Jane Scaccetti!
